Red Chairs Install (2000), initial event for most following artworks of udO reiN The red chairs in the snow had a big influence to my art work between 2000-2005. The initial installation was done on Trittalm near Lech Vorarlberg (Austria) in the year 2000. Right from the beginning I was fascinated by the contrast of this heavy, aggressive red color in between the smooth, innocent white. This installation can be seen as a main initial inspiration for several artworks and projects, that had been realised after the year 2000. First time "red chairs" played a major part in the time-project "TIME 5 min, 5 sec", an interview film-installation with 9 screens. About 394 people had been interviewed about time. The filming took place between March 2001 and October 2002. Later "red chairs" became the main motif for pictures, especially for udO rein's project "Heimweg" - "the way home" (published at: Verlag für moderne Kunst, Nürnberg, 2004, ISBN Nr. 3-936711-47-X C). Other publications as the cover for "Heimweg card" and as the picture panel for ReDo's art-movie installation "the way home". Udo Rein: "That early morning, when we set of to find the perfect place, snow was
falling innocently. It should become a contrast between hurry and rest. Then: a pool of blood in the snow.
Seen from a distance, nothing would match our idea better than those red chairs in the snow." |
